Detox Immune Boost Smoothie

With the New Year fast approaching, I thought I would share with you my favourite drink to get me back on track if I overindulge. Detox Immune Boost Smoothie gives our body a helping hand in ensuring that we have the right nutrients on hand after our indulgence. So to ensure that we keep our immune system strong I like to use immune boosting ingredients like ginger, lemon and turmeric.

This smoothie is “rich in antioxidants (including vitamin C), and fibre to help moveΒ toxins out.” And great for picking up your blood sugar which gets lower especially when drinking alcohol.”

Ingredients

(serves 2)

  • Thumb size piece ginger
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 pink grapefruit
  • Handful spinach
  • 4 beetroot leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp fresh turmeric or 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 pieces frozen pineapple
  • 2 cups coconut water

Preparation

*Tip: To ensure that you get a smooth textured smoothie, it is recommended to blend your greens (i.e. spinach, kale leaves &) with the liquid first, then add the remaining ingredients.

Method

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth!
